December 2016 - Gill Garage , Alfred, NY
This was a nice local project, located just about 2 miles from the shop. It will be a garage in the winter and a gathering space in warm weather. Many of the timbers were from large spruces taken down to make way for the building. The customer found a really nice "branch" to put up at the peak!
Winter 2015- Lewis House, Alfred NY
These are a few interior shots of a smaller, space efficient house done locally.
Summer 2015- Dubbs House Keuka Lake
An approximately 4500 sq ft house with a great views of Keuka Lake. This project was almost all Red Oak timbers, including a 30' span live edge piece over the living room. That 2000 lb piece of timber was it's own pick with the crane!
Updated Completion Pictures Begun Spring 2014- Meeting House, Hallstead PA
We are pleased to be building our first religious building on the grounds of Camp Iroquonia in Northern Pennsylvania. The oak and larch hammer beam frame will have a footprint of 36'x60' standing on a full basement. We had a 40 ton crane to raise these heavy bents. Stay tuned for pictures as the project progresses! Special Thanks to Ming Slogar for the video below.
Swain Completion Pictures
Project managed by Hyland Timber Framing and all interior and exterior woodwork is ours. The last picture is the alternating tread stairs up to the cupola, which were a lot of fun to do!
Summer 2014- Blake Residence, Swain NY
Summer 2014- Dulski Porch Addition, South Bristol NY
We built an open plan porch addition to a beautiful lake house overlooking Canadaigua Lake. The porch is of full finished larch on a 20'x12' floor plan and features a traditional King Post truss frame and log stair cases on two sides.
Winter 2014- Pettinger Installation
We installed a finished larch frame inside of a new constructed home, as well as matching porch elements on both the front and back of the home. The home is slated to be fully finished this spring.
Fall 2013- Ashraf and Myers Shop Raising, Alfred NY
We helped an old friend raise a 36'x 24' with 12' bump out two story frame that she cut herself based on plans we both designed. As you can see from the pictures below, the frame turned out beautifully and raising it was a pleasure. We are currently working on enclosing the structure with our usual SIP panels. A Special thanks to Mae Baker of Maevin Photopgraphy (maevinphoto@gmail.com) for the photography of this raising and for our new profile pics! Also see her Facebook page: www.facebook.com/maevinphoto
Fall 2013- Eccleston Shop Raising, Lake Placid, NY
24'x28' two story sculpture studio with cupola built in the shadow of mount Tahwus.
Summer 2013- Small Change Farm Barn Repair, Alfred Station, NY
A friend had a barn dating from the 1870's that had been neglected for far too long. The addition of 14 tons of clay tile somewhere around the turn of the century had taxed already underbuilt joints to the breaking point. We first removed the tile roof and then shored up several internal members before replacing the roof with lightweight tin. All without disturbing the cattle living in the barn! We and the owner are still looking for someone who wants a tile roof on their project, the 7,000 or so century old tiles we took off are too nice to let sit around for long!
Summer 2013- Lewis House, Alfred NY
24'x32' foot print house, two floors, on our first rubble trench foundation! The owner made a nice highlights video below...
Spring 2013 Venice NY
This project was a unique concept. One story tall with a nearly flat earth roof. One continuous frame encompassing both indoor and outdoor space. Because the timbers will be exposed on the inside and outside, the entire frame was made of White Oak, for rot resistance. The entire frame was finished with a vinegar and iron oxide stain, resulting in the black coloration in the pictures. Despite the seemingly simple plan of the house it required a meticulous attention to detail. I'll be sure to post pictures of the fully finished house!
